Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the successful incumbent will be responsible to manage the day-to-day operational activities of the Human Resources Department, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and standard operating procedures as well as ensure the execution of strategies to enable business success.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Human Resources qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 -3 years HR Generalist experience in a senior capacity
  • Working experience within a 5 star Hotel environment advantageous
  • Good understanding of South African labour legislation (i.e. LRA, BCEA, EEA) and HR best practices
  • Effective business partnering with stakeholders , management and associates
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • Strong interpersonal skills , effective communication and email etiquette
  • Staff Management experience
  • Professional and pleasant disposition
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Strong planning, organising and administrative skills
  • People oriented and results driven
  • Ability to work without supervision and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours as and when required

Technical Experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office packages (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in HR/Payroll systems and databases

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage the day to day HR operational activities
  • Be an overall support to the Director of Human Resources
  • Coach, guide management and associates on all the aspects of Human Resources practices and processes
  • Managing the recruitment and selection process
  • Initiate and take responsibility for specific HR projects
  • Embed HR practices and principles into the Business
  • Disciplinary practises ,Industrial Relations, incl. CCMA Representation
  • Legislative compliance and submissions (LRA, BCEA, EEA)
  • Maintain and update workplace profile and BBBEE related required information Managing employee relations and Human Resources Communication
  • Organizational Capability
  • Payroll – Knowledge of principles and application of human resources hourly and monthly payroll methods and practices.
  • Co- ordinate and manage CSI initiatives
  • Assist with Budget preparation
  • Update Policies and Procedures
  • Promote corporate values and enable business success by initiating HR interventions as required
  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and retention of human capital
  • Nurture a positive working environment
  • Monitor a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
  • Perform other duties as and when required

Statutory Compliance

  • Co-ordination of EE / representative committee
  • Drafting and submission of the annual EE plan
  • Monitor alignment and EE requirements
