We are looking for a person in Africa with high clinical skills in cardiovascular ultrasound to take care of customers who have already chosen Philips as their supplier, as well as to introduce and sell Philips ultrasound at point of procurement.

In this role, you have the opportunity to become a recognized expert in cardiovascular ultrasound and to support our customers to reach the maximum performance of the ultrasound they have invested in. You will be responsible for knowing, demonstrating and teaching the latest technology and communicating on appropriate level with all users.

You are responsible for

  • Responsible for promoting Philips Healthcare products & systems in the assigned district.
  • In addition, the Applications Specialist ensures that customers (e.g. end-users, technicians, operators) are properly trained to optimally use the equipment delivered, installed and handed over by Philips Healthcare and maximizing customer satisfaction across Africa.
  • Demonstration of Philips Ultrasound products at customer sites/hospitals and at conferences/exhibits.
  • Assisting Sales Specialists and distributors by providing specialist sales support to ensure that all equipment is demonstrated to best advantage.
  • Post sales customer product training both at customer sites/hospitals and at Philips customer optimization days.
  • Following training schedules for the complete range of equipment and train customers in the use of Philips Ultrasound products, and to provide a formal applications report on completion of all applications visits consistent with Philips quality standards.
  • Maintaining contact with existing users ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction and confidence in using Philips Ultrasound equipment.
  • In addition, the Applications Specialist ensures that customers (e.g. end-users, technicians, operators, customers) are properly trained to optimally use the equipment delivered, installed and handed over by Philips Healthcare and maximizing customer satisfaction in the assigned district.
  • Develop and implement training programs for our cardiovascular ultrasound users in Africa.
  • Assisting the Business Marketing Manager in all aspects of marketing, sales and promotion of Philips Ultrasound (US) equipment and provide specialist sales support to the account managers when required.
  • Assisting the Business Marketing Manager in the maintenance of tender responses, competitive pricing information and installed base data as well as assisting the Account Managers in the answering of Tender questionnaires.
  • Providing feedback to business/marketing management with information on reference sites system performance, competitor products, customer reactions and sales arguments.
  • Liaising with the Product Management Group’s applications team to ensure that the latest US information is available for Users, including attending international meetings where appropriate.
  • Providing support at courses delivered by our key accounts/customers.
  • Develop and implement training programs for our cardiovascular ultrasound users in Africa.
  • Customize the systems to the users’ specific requests, in close collaboration with both sellers and users, to maximize clinical performance.
  • Perform demonstrations, presentations, courses, workshops and lectures to stimulate sales and enhance customer knowledge.
  • Perform troubleshooting for image quality problems and any other application-related issues a user may have with their Philips system.
  • Collect clinical data and information to assist the sales organization in procurement processes.
  • Become an acknowledged expert in your field; continuously develop your skills on the latest features and solutions that Philips develops, as well as stay on top of trends and news in the market.
  • Responsible for, together with Account Manager, maintaining and expanding existing customer base.
  • Regularly participate in sales planning meetings.
  • Contribute with information about market trends, competitor information and potential new projects at customers.

You are a part of our dynamic sales and application team at Philips and report directly to Business Marketing Manager for Ultrasound in Africa.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • At least 5 years of clinical cardiovascular experience in ultrasound area
  • High level of knowledge in scanning and using advanced tools and software
  • Medical education, echocardiographer etc
  • Good communication skills in English (additional French)
  • Problem solver for both hardware and software
  • Excellent pedagogy and presenter
  • Must have a driving license and be willing to travel
  • Excellent communicator with appropriate personality
  • Ability to work in a high performance environment
